“Tryst with Destiny”- Celebration of Independence Day

“Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment, we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

The day is celebrated on 15th August every year honouring the nation’s freedom from the British Empire on 15th August 1947. On this very day, our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian National flag at Red Fort in New Delhi. The ‘Tryst with Destiny’ speech was given on the eve of India’s Independence day. The Constituent Assembly met for its 5th Session at 11pm on 14th August in the Parliament; the Tryst with Destiny speech declaring India’s Independence.

As Indian we always need a reason to celebrate, but if the reason is the 69th Year of Independence, then things get different.  Nevertheless, the celebration was held in Shoogloo Office but the enthusiasm was quite clear. Our team has decorated the entire office with tricolor balloons and flags and patriotic song was played; which aroused the patriotic feeling in all of us.

In this occasion it was mandatory for everyone to wear anything which looks traditional and the senior team will decide upon the best male dress and best female dress who will get a surprise gift. As a part of a celebration, we have planned some entertainment followed by delicious tempting evening snacks.

After completing the task everyone have gathered for the celebration, the event started with a quiz based on Independence Day. Where we have made three different teams and the winning team will be awarded with chocolates and cookies. Many tried and failed, but continued in a hope to win a cookie. The last level of the quiz was followed by the some patriotic song the team with the best song will win. The best traditional dress male and female was Priyanka Kaul and Rakhib and Ali. This quiz completion was followed by amazing snacks and the tempting  jalebi was complimenting the entire event.

And, the happy end followed by National Anthem.

As said by Mahatama Gandhi- “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
